Jeannie Ferrami es una psicobióloga que estudia la influencia de la genética en la personalidad. Ha desarrollado un programa que identifica a criminales que tienen gemelos. Lisa, una amiga de Jeannie, ha sido violada por un hombre que es idéntico al joven Steve Logan. Los acontecimientos hacen que Ferrani investigue el asunto y cuando analiza el ADN de Steve descubre que es un clon que fue creado junto con otros y que él no es el violador.
