Después de meses de agotadora guerra de trincheras, la mayor parte del batallón del mayor Belyaev fue destruido. La zona está gobernada por francotiradores alemanes. Las esperanzas de reabastecimiento se derrumban cuando el convoy en el que viajaban los francotiradores soviéticos cae bajo un ataque aéreo alemán.
